Priestess In Shimogamo Jinja

Shinto priestesses in Shimogami Jinja

The Shinto priestesses were walking in a group in the silent precinct

Shot at Shimogamo Jinja, a Shinto shrine in Kyoto.

The precinct of this shrine was spacious. The wide approach stretched in the guardian forest of this shrine. During I was heading for the prayer hall which stood on the other side of the forest, the cluster of the priestess came from over there. They were marching. And I wondered where they were going to. I could hear the sound of their clockwork footsteps when they passed by me.

This shrine is one of UNESCO World Heritage sites.
