Even though I thought it would definitely be more flavorful to take a ferry across the sea than to use a bridge to cross in the blink of an eye, the bus I boarded was crossing a bridge. I could see the ocean beyond the bridge. The nearest bus stop to the ferry terminal had already passed. It was too late. It was a tragic mistake, but the bus reached the last stop while I was thinking that I could take the ferry on the way back. Jōgashima Island, located at the southern tip of the Miura Peninsula, was a tropical place where people in wetsuits strolled around.
I had not come to Jōgashima to dive. I just wanted to take a walk as usual. So I set out walking with people in wetsuits wandering around the bus stop on my side. First, I headed for the Jōgasaki Lighthouse, but I was not allowed to go inside. There were only a few bathers around, but not the bustle of the peak season. I followed the road up the hill, and before I knew it, I was walking on a hiking trail. Although I was walking close to the ocean, I could not see the ocean on either side of the hiking trail because of the overgrowth of grass. The only thing I could see for sure was the blue sky and white clouds floating there.
