If a space elevator exists to connect the ground and space, a space escalator would be a good idea. An elevator with a chitin basket may be more efficient and desirable for transporting goods, but if you are just going to space as a tourist, an elevator is a way to go. Put your hand on the moving handrail and look up to see the universe spreading out ahead of you, and the earth lying behind you. If you are going to space by rocket, you have to fight against the strong gravity, which is inevitable. However, the journey with a space escalator is relaxing and enjoyable without having to grit your teeth.
On this day, I was walking along the seaside of Yokosuka. When I crossed the Mabori Beach and came to Hashirimizu, there was a pier a little offshore where fishing boats were anchored. There was a bridge to the pier, so I thought it would be interesting and started to cross the bridge. It was not a very long bridge. It was elevated near the center, and from the edge, the bridge stretched in a straight line toward the blue sky. It was a bridge that made me think that if I were on a space elevator, it would look something like this. But reality does not allow for such dreaming. On the other side of the bridge, there is a pier where fishing boats are moored. The distance to space did not shrink at all.
