Walking through the crowded alleys of Tainan, I came across a mausoleum dedicated to Guan Yu. There was a mausoleum dedicated to Guan Yu just a few minutes ago, but this was another mausoleum called the Kaiji Martial Temple. In Tainan, there seem to be several mausoleums dedicated to Guan Yu in a small area. That must be why Guan Yu is so popular with the people of Tainan. Perhaps it is natural because he is the god of business. In Japan, too, there are Inari shrines everywhere.
However, when there is a mausoleum dedicated to Guan Yu nearby, one wonders if there will be a dispute over legitimacy. Well, perhaps legitimacy is unimportant as long as there are benefits. When I peeked into the mausoleum, I saw several incense sticks standing in a large incense burner. Some of them were still lit, so they had not been there very long. Beyond the incense sticks, two women were praying for blessings.
