In Taumadhi Square in the old town of Bhaktapur, where the Bhairavanath Temple stands, there was also an altar dedicated to Bhairava on the wall facing the square. Bhairava is an alias of the Hindu god Shiva. The altar is decorated with a lion guarding the altar and various other designs. The main deity, however, seems to be very small.
A woman in a saree came to the altar to offer something as I held up my camera. Bhairava seems to be worshipped by the locals. People kept coming to this altar, and there was no end to the number of people who came to pay their respects.
