While walking aimlessly through the streets of Kolkata, I wandered into an alleyway, which was dimly lit by buildings. I could see some men walking around. Most of the time, these alleys are busy, but here it was quiet. Most of the stores seem to be closed. At the end of the alley, I saw a sign with an Islamic-style name on it.
When you hear the name "India", you might think that everyone is a non-beef eating Hindu, but in fact, there are many Muslims in this country. I was told that about 13% of the population is Muslim. Don't underestimate the importance of a mere 13%. Even if they say 13% because the population is so large, the number of Muslims is as high as 180 million. There are more Muslims in this country than the total population of Japan.
