When I came to a greengrocery in Khlong Toei Market, an older woman wearing a red apron stood in the storefront. She had some onions in her hands and was about to put them into one of the trays displayed in the storefront. She was a shopkeeper.
Apparently, she has done business in this market for a long time. Perhaps, she might know about this area before this large market was built. It is said that this market was built in the area which was a part of the slum.
By the way, she wore a unique traditional hat. It was in the shape of the trapezium. And it was different from a conical hat which was common in Southeastern Asian countries. Maybe it belonged to a minority. Anyway, it was uncommon to see people wearing a traditional hat like her in Bangkok. Bangkok is a modern city and a center of ASEAN, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
