Shanghai is the center of China's rapidly developing economy, but not far from the center, there were still areas that had not been redeveloped. There was a stretch of narrow alleyways that I didn't know where they led, and that cars couldn't even pass through, with low-rise houses lining both sides.
As I walked down the alley, it was interesting to see a glimpse of local people on the street. The people were lounging about, doing nothing. The alleyways where the laundry was drying were filled with silence, and the atmosphere was very quiet. It was hard to believe that the same time was flowing as in the busy center of Shanghai.
