Several escalators operating side by side create a factory-like atmosphere
Many escalators were working in this big Shin-Marunouchi building. Many visitors came here. And they used the escalators to going up and down. Most of them were standing on the left side of the escalators. It is an unspoken rule to clear the right side in Tokyo.
Interestingly, people clear the left side in Osaka, the second largest city in Japan. The rule seemed to be depended the area. It is said people also clear the left side in China, South Korea, United States and others. To clear the right side might be a minority thing.
