As I wandered through the crowded alleyways of the marketplace in Tamsui, I came upon the entrance to a small temple. I could see a large incense burner on the other side of the gate. I was not sure what the temple was about, whether it was Buddhist or Taoist. It was located beside a marketplace where a lot of people were busy working, so it was probably a Taoist temple that is sensitive to business.
In any case, the grounds looked deserted. Perhaps the locals were too busy to have time to pay their respects. A young man was sitting at the entrance. But this man was just resting there, too, and didn't seem to be praying.
