Although Zojo-ji Temple boasts a long history, the large main hall is made of concrete and looks new. The main hall was reconstructed in 1974. The original building was destroyed by fire during World War II.
When one enters the main hall, it is spacious and dimly lit. There are worshippers here and there. The sun was shining dimly through a glass window in the front of the building.
A man appeared as I gazed at the entrance. Standing in the backlight, the man was silhouetted. The man stopped at the entrance and bowed deeply toward the inside. He then raised his upper body and entered the dimly lit interior.
