The entrance to the Ohara Museum of Art in the Bikan Historical Quarter of Kurashiki was small and ivy-covered. Suppressing my nervousness, I decided to look at the exterior first. The collection of this museum is amazing. There were works by El Greco, Gauguin, Monet, Renoir, and more. It is one of the best museums in Japan.
While I was looking at the museum from the entrance, a young man appeared. As he passed through the gate, he stopped and looked up at the museum building. Like me, he must have come to see the impressionist works of Gauguin and Renoir.
Still, compared to the splendor of the collection, this ivy-covered entrance was small and very plain.
