In a corner of the temple grounds, a number of stone lanterns stood in a row. The shapes are almost the same, but the sizes vary. It is my impression that such stone lanterns are usually arranged in an orderly fashion along the approach to the shrine, but here they were gathered in a narrow corner. They are surrounded by a wall, so that visitors are not allowed to get close to them.
Gokoku-ji Temple has many buildings designated as important cultural properties, including the main hall. Perhaps this stone lantern also has some kind of history. However, I could not find any explanatory signs around the temple, so I could not find out its background. The stone lanterns quietly lined up in a row seemed to add the weight of time to this place.
