The approach to the main shrine of Yushima Tenjin was lined with stalls. It was a fair day. But in contrast to the large number of people standing in front of the main shrine, the area in front of the stalls was deserted. It seemed that the worshippers who came to pay their respects after the exam season were too busy reporting their successes and didn't think of filling their stomachs. All the people working at the stalls seemed to be free. I was worried that they might be losing business.
In the midst of all this, only one boy stood still in front of the stall. He was staring at the large pancakes lined up in front of the stall. Unlike other worshippers, this boy seemed to be more concerned about satisfying his hunger than worshipping.
