Along with the street vendors selling the perishable goods, there was also a street vendor selling Kun in the street. Kun is a preparation combining betel leaf with areca nut. And it is common not only in Myanmar but also in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan.
The name varies between countries. In India, it is called Paan. Anyway, it is very popular with local people in every country. The situation is also the same in Myanmar. Walking the streets, I often saw the people selling Kun. I thought there were much more Kun sellers than Tobacconists in this city.
The woman in this photo was one of Kun sellers in this city. She sat on the chair and read a kind of paper. Some betel leaves were seen on her table.
