I was walking through the deserted corridors of the Myo Ma Market in Thanlyin. The only people coming and going are those who work here, and there are very few shoppers. I was worried that business might not be viable under such circumstances. However, I was not in the market all the time, but only for a few hours, so the corridor may be overflowing with shoppers depending on the time of the day.
After walking for a while, I came across a stand at the end of the corridor, and a man with a big belly was standing next to it. A number of containers were lined up on the platform. The man was selling kun in this deserted hallway. It is not unusual to see people selling kun in Myanmar. The tools of the trade of the kun vendors are similar. There is a stand or table to spread kumma leaves, and containers of betel nut and lime to put on the betel leaves are lined up at the end of the stand or table. Even if you don't see any betel leaves, you can easily recognize that they are selling kun.
