I was walking down a narrow alley with houses looming on both ends. Even though they were all lined up in a row, all the houses were quiet and there was no sign of people. It was a little eerie. I didn't see a single person living in the houses, and there was no laundry hanging outside the houses. There was no smell of life wafting from any of the houses as if no one lived there.
The road was narrow, but it seemed to be a loophole, and I saw many motorbikes with local people on them. As I walked along, I saw many motorbikes coming from the other side of the road, many of them passing me. There were no sidewalks, so the motorbikes all ran past me as I walked along the edge of the road.
When I was walking along the main street, Jalan Siliwangi, it seemed like most of the locals were getting around the city in bicycle cabs called Becak, but that didn't seem to be the case. Looking at this alleyway, it seems that many people own motorbikes and use their own vehicles to get around the city. The only people on the motorbikes going through this alley were the people at the wheel, and they all seemed to be riding their own vehicles.
