Chinatown, where I was staying, is located in downtown Yangon, and many locals live there. The people walking the streets were not all of Chinese descent. If anything, most of them seem to be of Burmese.
On the side of the road downtown, there are many food stalls that cater to the locals. It is interesting to note that the types of food stalls vary depending on the time of day, as they are not set up as stores. In the morning, there are many stalls and vendors selling fresh food such as meat and vegetables, and the streets lined with many stalls look like a food market.
The family in the photo was in front of one such stall. The mother was sitting on a chair with her young daughter between her knees while she took care of her daughter's hair. But the girl didn't seem to be too happy about it. Her attention is on the screen of her phone and she is trying to run away whenever she can. For the girl, videos are much more fun than parental love.
