It was a hot and humid afternoon. I was walking around town, feeling my sweat pouring down like a waterfall. Walking in this kind of weather was like taking a sauna for me. Sweating like a baby, I told myself that it must be good for my health.
I had assumed that the locals were used to this kind of weather, but it turns out that is not the case. I saw people cooling off on the side of the road. It must be tough for them to stay indoors without air conditioning. In the humidity and heat, the line between indoors and outdoors seemed to blur.
The man in the photo was one of those who were cooling off outside the house. He was sitting on a chair out in front of the house, his legs thrown haphazardly over the table. There seemed to be some kind of freedom and resignation coexisting in his appearance. This place must be his personal resting place.
His motionless figure and the quietness of his surroundings seemed to bring a strange calm to the sultry atmosphere.
