I stopped and watched the local men playing Thai chess called Makruk in a corner of a small square. It is said that Makruk has its roots in Chaturanga, an Indian board game, same as chess. So Makruk is one of the relatives of chess. And this was the first time to see people playing Makruk for me.
The chubby man in this photo also played Makruk in the square. He spoke all the time while playing and was in a good humor. He made a move happily. Because I didn't know the rule, I couldn't judge the situation of the game. According to his expression, he had an advantage. He might be close to winning.
