Idyllic street corners are well suited for carefree men playing games. It is the same in Jakarta's residential areas. While I was strolling around, I saw two men playing chess at a table in front of the eaves of the building.
In my travels, when I walk around the city, I often see men who have a lot of free time on their hands and are playing some kind of game. In Shanghai, there were people playing mah-jongg around a table on the street, in a park in Seoul, there were people playing Go, and in India, people were often seen playing cards.
Among them, there were many people playing a game similar to chess. The board game called Chaturanga originated in ancient India. And it becomes westerns chess was in the west and it becomes Chinese chess and others in the east. As a result of its development in various countries, oriental chess diversifies into Xiangqi in China, Janggi in Korea, and Shogi in Japan. Each is similar but slightly different.
Looking at the chessboard in front of these two men, it looked like the game hadn't started very long, judging by the number of pieces. However, the man who was sitting on the left side of the board seemed to have made a crucial move. He had a look of anticipation on his face.
