When I came to the square called 'SL Hiroba' in front of Shimbashi station, I found some shogi boards were placed in a corner of the square. The boards were rather bigger than usual. So they were easy to notice. And some men enjoyed playing Shogi there. Same as the boards, the pieces were big enough to be comical. Yet every expression of the players was serious. It did not give a comical effect even the smallest chance.
The man in this photo also got thinking about his next step in a serious manner. Seemingly, he couldn't decide soon. He stayed motionless while he put his hands to his waist. It was not only me watching the man. On the other side of the player, a hatted man also watched the player. A plastic cup was in his hand. And he watched while drinking. The face of a Shogi board seemed to be a nice accompaniment for drinking alcohol for him.
