In the center of the small shrine called Bangkok City Pillar Shrine, two golden pillars stood. The poles were Lak Mueang and built to make a wish for the prosperity. The custom was based on Brahmanism. Although the major religion in Thailand is Buddhism, the influence of Hinduism was often seen in the city. The local people have faith in Hindu deities along with Buddha. This situation is very interesting.

The worshipers sat around the poles. The inside of the hall was silent. Everybody prayed seriously here. It was believed that anyone who prayed here could get prayers. The man in the photo was also just praying with a tray in his hands. Flowers and incense sticks were put on his tray.
