Some smiling wooden faces stood at the entrance of the village and made me welcome. They kept laughing after I entered the village which was surrounded by 1410m of Joseon-period fortress walls.
These wooden faces were guardians for the community. So they stood there to protect against invasion by the evils. Fortunately, I was not recognized as a suspicious individual by them. Even though I passed by them, they kept laughing. And I felt as if I could hear their laughter.
