When Fatahillah Square, Jakarta's most famous tourist spot, is deserted, the people doing business around it also seem to be bored. Just like on weekends when there are many people, there are people doing business with tourists around the square, but they all seem to have too much time on their hands. The man in this photo had parked a shared bus on the main street near the square and was waiting for customers to arrive. But there were no passengers. He sat on the edge of the bus bed, helpless.
A man with a gray beard was sitting on the back of the bus, watching the traffic. He was probably looking to see if there was anyone who might be a potential customer. However, there were not so many potential customers. Not many people wandered around the tourist spots on a Friday, a weekday, in a buoyant mood. As is the case in any country, there are no good people wandering around tourist spots on weekday afternoons without any work to do. Fortunately or unfortunately, it was a foreign tourist with a camera who approached me.
When I pointed my camera at the man, he started laughing, as if he hadn't expected it.
