Kakurin-ji Temple is a temple of the Nichiren sect of Buddhism, but it also enshrines the tablets and statues of Kiyomasa Kato. It seems that this area used to be the residence of the Hosokawa family of the Higo Kumamoto Domain. On the day of the Kiyomasa Festival, there were many worshippers in the temple grounds. A statue of Kiyomasa was unveiled and visitors were given a “victory charm”. Many stalls lined the precincts of the temple, and a long line formed in front of the main hall.

In the procession, I saw a girl standing in the middle of the line. She was standing in line with her mother, holding an umbrella, but she looked a little bored, perhaps because the line was not going very fast. She was staring at the one on the left with a grim look on her face.
