The approach to the Hisaizu Shrine was thickly overgrown with trees. A torii gate with a shimenawa (sacred rope) can be seen at the end of the path. The shrine is said to be the chief shrine of Iwatsuki (now Saitama City), but on that day there were no visitors anywhere on the approach to the shrine. The shrine grounds were deserted.
The shrine is located at least a short distance from the ruins of Iwatsuki Castle. Despite the fact that it is a 20-minute walk away, the shrine grounds are also part of the Iwatsuki castle ruins. Given this, the former Iwatsuki Castle must have been quite extensive.
