Walking along the old Tokaido Highway, which is now deserted, I found a small Shinto shrine off to the side. The approach to the shrine, flanked by flats, was narrow and short, and a torii gate stood at the end of it. It was an unreliable torii gate that looked as if it would fall over if the wind blew. There was a flat plaque on the torii gate, but the name of the shrine was not written on it, so I did not know the name of the shrine.
The torii gate is old and the stone-paved path leading to the hall of worship is a little distorted, but the grounds are well maintained. It must be cherished by the shrine parishioners. Although small, the grounds are overgrown with trees and must be a cosy place for the gods as well as humans.
