I could not feel any sign of people on the fishing boats floating on the sea around Ise in Yokosuka, as they were all moored securely with ropes, but when I crossed Hatayamazaki and came to the Hashirimizu fishing port, I felt some kind of human presence. Looking up at the sky, I could see black kites circling above me. There must be something in this harbor.
As I proceeded along the edge of the water, I saw people moving ahead of me. They were moving around a fishing boat that was half-submerged in the sea. I had an image that fishing boats leave port when I am still sleeping in bed, and by the time I wake up, they have already finished fishing and returned to port. It was a fishing boat. The time of departure may vary depending on the purpose of fishing.
As I watched, everyone seemed to be getting on board, and the fishing boat slid smoothly into the sea. It was a quiet departure, not a sound. The only people left behind in the harbor were me, a stranger, and a woman who was cleaning up the mooring rope. I looked up at the sky and saw a kite circling above the fishing boat.
