Walking along the side of Shiba Park, I saw a magnificent gate. It is the gate to the mausoleum of the former Daitokuin. Daitokuin is the Dharma name of the second Tokugawa Shogun, Hidetada Tokugawa, and as the name suggests, Hidetada's mausoleum was once located here. The mausoleum was of a grand scale and was one of the most representative buildings of the early Edo period, but unfortunately, it was destroyed by fire during the war and only part of it remains. The gate of the former Daitokuin mausoleum is a valuable structure that survived the war.
The gate is open and anyone can pass through. In the past, only a limited number of people could enter through the gate because it was the entrance to the Shogun's mausoleum, but time has passed and the mausoleum is no longer there, so now it is a free pass. The site of the mausoleum is now the site of Shiba Park and The Prince Park Tower Tokyo.
A gentle staircase extended beyond the gate. At the top of the stairs, figures could be seen. The two figures were moving toward the back. If they kept walking, they would soon reach the entrance to The Prince Park Tower Tokyo.
