Many Jizo statues stood side by side in a corner of the Zojo-ji temple grounds. It is already summer and hot, but most of the Jizo are wearing knit caps. I thought it would be difficult to scratch their heads when they get itchy from the heat, but it seems that my fears were unfounded. Every Jizo stands there with a look on his face as if the heat is nothing to worry about.
When you look closely, you will notice that each of them wears a different knit cap. It seems that in the world of the Jizo, a sense of horizontal alignment is not so popular.
By the way, I thought these Jizo were Mizuko Jizo, but it seems they are not. They seem to be Jizo for praying for child-raising.
