When I stopped at the bottom of the hill, I could see a ruined wall on the top of the hill. The ruin on the hill was St Paul's Church originally built by Portuguese in 1521. The church was regularly visited by St Francis Xavier, co-founder of the Society of Jesus. He had come also to Japan to take a missionary tour. Unfortunately, the church was almost destroyed and had only walls.
Because it belonged to Roman Catholic, it was abandoned after the authority was changed to other Protestant countries, Netherland and Great Britain.
