After leaving Shwemawdaw Pagoda, I came to a temple called Myathalyaung Paya. This temple is famous for its huge Reclining Buddha. As soon as I approached the site, I immediately saw the huge Reclining Buddha. The Reclining Buddha is lying down in the strong sunlight. There is no roof at all over the Buddha statue. The sunlight is mercilessly pouring down on the Reclining Buddha.
The eyes of the Reclining Buddha are slightly open and his face is grim. He looks like he is thinking about something difficult, or he looks like he is fed up with the sun shining on him. Personally, I prefer the latter, as it makes him seem more human.
The sun was not only shining on the Buddha statue, but also on the ground around it. The ground was already hot. In Myanmar, it is a rule to enter temples barefoot, so I was walking barefoot, but the soles of my feet were so hot that I couldn't stand it. I held the camera up while enduring the heat. Of course, the reclining Buddha was not looking at my camera. In a jar placed in front of the Buddha statue, there were several sticks of incense sticks that had been extinguished.
