The bridge in the photo is the Megane-bashi Bridge, built in 1634. This bridge over the Nakajima River, which flows through Nagasaki City, is said to be the first arched stone bridge in Japan. When I visited there, it was crowded with many tourists hanging out on the bridge. The sun was shining so brightly that the people on the bridge were silhouetted. It looked like a tourist attraction. I was one of the many tourists who wandered over.
The stone bridge, seen from a little distance away, was solid and maintained its composure no matter how many tourists were climbing on it. It is a tourist attraction, but it doesn't seem to be in a state of excitement.
