The wall stretched along the lane

Shot at Higashiyamate Western Style Residences in Nagasaki city, Nagasaki.

The first foreign settlement was made in this area shortly after opening the port of Nagasaki. And many foreigners put down new roots here. And now, seven western houses were preserved and open to the public as tourist attractions. These houses were not large. Yet the wall surrounded the houses were rough and round as if they carried too many guns for others.

When I walked along the wall, I found a woman at the end of the alleyway. She was watching the western house from the outside of the wall. She might be held at arm's length.
