A woman wearing a cook's hat and a mask was standing in an eating place I passed in Bangkok. This was a diner, but the woman did not have a kitchen knife in her hand. Instead, she held only a chisel in her hand. The woman was not cooking, but was hard at work whittling a large log. She was probably planning to use this big log as a table. The woman was flattening the top to make it easier to use.
The woman was wearing a cook's hat and apron, looking like she was ready to start cooking right now, but this was not the time for her to cook. She was concentrating on whittling a log. She didn't raise her eyes when I stopped in front of her, and she didn't show any sign of noticing when I set up my camera. The only sound in the small cafeteria was the sound of wood being cut.
