I was walking down Suddar Street. This is a street in Kolkata, famous for its row of cheap hotels. I didn't set up my accommodation here, but I was curious to know what the famous cheap hotel district was like.
When I was walking, I was approached by two women. It's not that I was being picked on, unfortunately, but I'm not that kind of person. They asked me for their business, Henna.
While I said no, they were relentless in their attempts to negotiate with me to write Henna on my hand. I guess there was no one else who could be a customer. I adamantly refused the offer, but I was allowed to take their photo.
Taking a closer look at their faces, I saw that they were both wearing rather unusual bindis. The woman on the left had a black dot between her eyebrows and the woman on the right had a light blue dot between her eyebrows. I could also see a sindoor on the forehead of the woman on the right. Maybe they were trying to make them stand out so that they could get a little more work done.
