Bindi And Sindoor

woman with Bindi and woman with Sindoor

A woman with Bindi and a woman with Sindoor sat together by the wayside

Shot in the city of Kolkata, India.

These women were hanging out in Sudder Street, which was famous for cheap hotels and foreign tourists. They were sitting together by the wayside and asking tourists for doing Mehndi. It was the application of henna as a temporary form of skin decoration. And they also offered me the service.

Looking closer, one woman wore a Bindi between her eyebrows and the other wore a Sindoor on her forehead. According to the sign, the latter woman was married.
