As I walked along the Thanlyin, the sound of hammering metal came out of nowhere, and soon a blacksmith shop came into view. A small furnace was set up in one corner, and a ladle was also placed there. Three men were working there, the oldest of whom was sitting firmly in front of a ladle placed in front of the furnace. This man seemed to be the master of the blacksmith shop. The other two men were facing each other across the table, large hammers in their hands.
The two men in longyi were alternately striking the hot iron. The sight of them tapping regularly has the power to attract people. Needless to say, the iron must be shaped by hammering while it is still hot, so the two men with hammers in their hands had no time to catch a glimpse of me. They were silently pounding away without a glance at me. I did not know what they were making. The sound of the hammers being swung down with regularity echoed pleasantly around them.
