Young Man Making An Alms Bowl

Young man making alms bowl

The young man arranged the shape of an alms bowl

Shot at Pom Prap Sattru Phai District in of Bangkok, Thailand.

A hut stood on the side of a canal. It was a studio. Some craftsmen were working as I passed. The young man in this photo was one of them. What they were making were alms bowls. The major religion in Thailand is Theravada Buddhism. So the Buddhist monks go about asking for alms here with an alms bowl. In Theravada, the alms bowl is the only belonging to the monks.

The young man was arranging the shape of a bowl put on the big stub while hitting with a crowbar. Apparently, it was not shaped beautifully yet. The earphones were worn by him. He was working while listening to music. A tool used for an ascetic training was made in the real world.
