Many tourists were wriggling on the railroad track in Maeklong Railway Market

Over the past decade or so, the Mae Klong Railway Market has become a major tourist attraction. The market, which literally opens on the railroad tracks, attracts many tourists. However, this does not mean that the city of Mae Klong has become a tourist attraction. Most tourists, after visiting the Mae Klong market, rush to get on a tourist bus and leave the town.

However, the tourists who visit Mae Klong undoubtedly contribute to the economy of Mae Klong. On this particular day, the railway market was crowded with tourists. From what I could see, just like in Bangkok, there were many tourists from China. Walking along the railroad tracks with so many tourists, I felt as if I was waiting for my turn to go to an amusement park. Everyone is waiting for the train to come, including me.

Unfortunately, most of the tourists are interested in nothing but the railroad market. They know when the train is coming, so few want to see other places in Mae Klong until then. As a result, many tourists spend the time until the train arrives zombie-like on the tracks.
