Everybody looked up the thick rope

Shot at Izumo Taisha, a Shinto shrine in Izumo, Shimane.

Some people stood under the thick rope and looked up. Although it was forbidden to do officially, they were slinging coins toward the rope. They said lucky would come when coins stuck in the rope.

I thought the deities enshrined here got no pleasure from doing that. Because the money was not needed in the world where they lived. Yet the human being in the real world wanted to become happy as much as possible.
