This area was the ancient capital of this country. It was the center of government about 1300 years ago. And it is believed that the present country name was adopted during the era. Okadera has a long history. It was suspected of being built in the late 7th century.

At the time of visiting, many rhododendrons were blooming in the precinct. It was said that about 3,000 flowers were planted here. By the way, one of its flower languages is 'dignity'.
