After a six-hour flight, I arrived in Bangkok. Except for transit purposes, this was the first time in 17 years that I had been to this city. As soon as I got off the plane, I was enveloped in the tropical air, and I realized that I was in a tropical country. After quickly clearing immigration, I took the Airport Rail Link to the city center. I got off the train at the terminal station called Phaya Thai, but the royal palace area where my lodgings are located is still far away.
I needed to take other transportation. While pondering how to get there, I looked down at the elevated railway tracks and saw a train running. It seemed to be a train of the National Railways of Thailand. I was tempted to get on it, but unfortunately it was not heading in the direction I wanted to go. After taking a few pictures, I put the train aside for the moment and started thinking again about how to get to my hotel.
