Hanging around the platform of Thon Buri station in Bangkok, I met cheerful people, but there was no sign of a stopped train starting to move. Perhaps not many trains arrive at or depart from this station in the first place. The air was so tranquil that I left the station first before the train left the station. I started walking along the road that runs along the railroad tracks.
The tracks in this area are single-track. The single-track line stretches through a thick growth of trees. After a while, there was not a railroad crossing, but there was a place where I could cross the track, so I decided to cross. As I crossed the track, I saw a small hut built on the side of the track. It looked as if a local had built it on his own, but the entrance was on the side of the tracks, so it must have been a hut related to the railroad. A dog was sitting at the entrance, watching me attentively. The railroads in Thailand are state-owned, just as they used to be in Japan, so perhaps the dog was a government employee related to the railroads.
