A wooden rowboat carrying a large number of people left the dock and started to head toward the other side of the river. From the outside, it might look like boat people setting sail, but it is not. None of the people in the boat looked like they were about to embark on a desperate voyage. That's right. This is just a ferryboat.
Although the Buriganga River flowing through Dhaka is not without bridges, there are none in this area, so if you want to cross to the other side of the river, you have to take a crude boat like this one that is propelled by human power. There were nine passengers on the boat in the photo, but it was human-powered.
