The enormous number of wooden boats was floating on the wharf called Sadarghat. These boats were passenger ferries and the local people used them to cross the wide river. If the bridge was built around here, many oarsmen could lose employment.
A man wearing lungi was one of the oarsmen working at the wharf. He was sitting on the boat. Two other boats were both sides of his boat. He was fastening them not to draw apart.
