There are no bridges around the wharf of Sadarghat in Dhaka, and ferryboats are an important means of transportation across the wide Buriganga River. The ferry boats, however, are boats without engines that could capsize at the slightest incident. In Japan, they are used for relaxing in parks and ponds, and do not seem to be used much as a means of transportation.
Although the boats are intimidating to ride, many people cross the river in small rowboats. So many boats are floating on the river that it is hard to count them. Compared to the big river, the boats were as small as leaves on a tree, going to the other side of the river and coming back.
