The train came into the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus station. Unlike In Japan, all the doors of the train were open while running. They were not malfunctioning. It was quite normal to run without closing the doors in India. And there were passengers standing at the open boarding gate. None of them looked surprised. I guessed they had got used to see trains running with their doors open here.
Passengers standing at the boarding gate had their bodies halfway out. I was not sure if they were leaning out to get a breeze because it was hot inside the car or because they wanted to be the first to get off when they reached the station. Perhaps it was both. One of the men standing in the doorway seemed to be a Sikh, and he hid his hair.
