I was walking through the residential streets of Jakarta. There were locals sitting on the side of the alleyway in several places, and I was weaving my way through them. When people saw me, they had different reactions. Some looked at me curiously, others took one look at me and returned their gaze disinterestedly. Either way, I won't feel any hostility as I walk by. Even if they didn't show interest, they were friendly when I called out to them, and the distance was just right.

There is a diner nearby, but there's no fancy coffee shop. So there was no place to relax and chat with friends, so many people spend their time in the alleyway. The old man in this photo was one of those who were sitting in the alleyway. He was sitting on the side of the road with his hat on and his collar wide open.

The old man didn't change his expression when he saw me coming in front of him or when he looked at the camera. Interested or not, he was uninterested. Nevertheless, when I pointed the camera at him, the old man's calm expression remained in the viewfinder.
